Any software installations, or was the computer moved/dropped? I've updated by BIOS and turned off CPU Throttling, which are suggested because of a possible power issue, to no apparent effect. I think this problem has been going on with this system for a long time, with the spikes usually staying just below the surface of noticeable effect. check over here I looked at my Resource Monitor -- and lo and behold!

It will completly freeze up for 5 to 30 seconds, mouse wont move cant type anything and if there is sound (music/movie) I get this weird echo-ie/robot sound.
