I asked for a different drive and told them that they shouldn't do that with drives. The only issue with them is that they're highly specialized. Only thing on top of that that I do is check the SMART data for the drive and I'll typically run a drive short test in a SMART tool, or Seagate For example, if it's a server that only reads data and doesn't write, you should perform a test of 100% reads that doesn't measure any write performance. news
Well I'd be seriously leery of trusting any data I cared about to an SSD, not without spinning rust backups at the very least. I do this because I do whole disk encryption. SSDs are reliable enough to be used in server-grade implementations. SSDs are just for laptops or so, not for real data storage requirements. Spinrite is about as good at interfacing with a modern drive than an old 16bit dos program trying to sqeeze every ounce of performance out of a 64bit processor. Thanks for sharing your work.
