Svchost Is Maxing Out My CPU Please Help!
Installed the update on a Win7 64 bit, wuauserv still spinning uselessly at 100% CPU, doing abslutely nothing as per the Event Log and WindowUpdate.log, for extended periods of time. *sigh* It gets stuck on "Resolving problems", and according to Task Manager, svchost is saturating one of my cores again. –AshleyZ Dec 24 '16 at 4:56 add a comment| up vote 1 UPDATE - 22/03/2016 (Applied to: Windows 7 SP1 & Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.) 1. For me, I worked through the steps and when I renamed the SoftwareDistribution folder, it solved the problem. i sugest you run THREATFIRE or some such security program to catch it. The nice thing about process explorer is that it gets you the friendly name for each process instead of the short name.
