And I will go to viper to figure which processes I could rid. November 26, 2009 bert winters I get message host process for windows was closed down and then i cant get on the internet,i then have to close the computer and re check over here I just restored for the 4th time, and this time I did not allow Auto Update, and now the machine runs like new. It’s because of background services called “svhost.exe” which running on your PC that consumes lot of RAM.Windows svhost.exe:Svchost.exe is a process on your computer that hosts, or contains, other individual services
I think this did the job.

It seems that the size of the local cache and the update database reaches some limit, and wuauserv begins to "flow" again.

In fact, svchost.exe is a container process, in which other programs and system service threads are running. Saludos. Mr. and will observe if svchost is mischievous again.
The nice thing about process explorer is that it gets you the friendly name for each process instead of the short name. This fixed it for me. Thanks! Svchost.exe (netsvcs) has returned to sucking my CPU.
