I'll then start looking at re-installing the OS to clear a load of space. you could always resort to a complete rebuild. If your problem returned quickly after doing a reformat/reinstall, it is time to look elsewhere. But what if you need to roll back to a saved restore point, but cannot boot into Windows 10?

Ever wanted to reset Windows 7 without losing personal data? So 108 +116 = 224GB therefore there seems to be approx. 26GB of HD space missing somewhere to get to 250GB stated total size? Could really do with advise on this.

Prob can repair windows. All rights reserved. Vista uses 15% of the disk for System Restore by default. a teeth grindingly slow process!
The file formats do not matter ( to a degree!) Windows itself is only happy if free space is above 20%, and happier still the more space there is.
