This is normal, it's not slowing your computer down, as soon as more processes open, it releases those resources. Evan System is just a summary of all CPU usage that's not caused by programs. Jason People seem to be mixing up "System Idle Process" and a process called "System". "System Idle" is good, and doesn't show up as CPU usage in Task Manager Performance panel. Tim I had this problem with the 'System' (not 'System Idle Processes') taking all un-used CPU resources. The related file name is C:\Windows\System32\ntoskrnl.exe. not is problem, only windows process.....
