BTW, this is for XP. It also found Reg winshow.a virus @ c:\windows\sys.reg It couldn't clean it and I didn't delete it until I'm sure it's OK to do so. If you are unable to open Task Manager from the start menu because a virus has locked you out, how do you open it? - No, create an account now.
- Do this in addition to creating a HotKey.
- When I press CTL+ALT+DEL the Task Manager window opens for about 1 second and then shuts down.
- No luck.
- WHen searching you have options (will have too look under where you type your search in) for searching: Check to Search: System, subfolders, and hiddens'.
- Try that once.
- You are always my last resort.

- Funny thing is I open task manager it shows for 1 sec then goes to task bar i move my mouse over it and it closes.
- then New Task(Run)In the box that opens type sfc /scannow ......There is a space between c and /Click OKLet it run and insert the CD when asked.

I still have the problem, Task Manager, MSconfig and regedit will only open for a second. That was the case until Windows Vista was born from the Microsoft womb.
