Most important: is your ‘new' machine still under warranty? (also very curious to make/model..) You could try System Restore.. The only resort left in such a situation is to restart the device in the hope of overcoming the "taskbar disappeared' error. Did you know that the taskbar doesn't have to be on the bottom? If you like it there, and some people do, lock it again.
